The Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil IGP is another step in terms of recognition of high quality oils in the Italian market, but also and especially in the foreign ones, which require more and more niche products recognizable by territorial certifications. In particular, this regional certification has the value and merit of having a well thought out and fairly restrictive discipline aimed at improving the quality of local production. The designation Igp (Protected Geographical Indication) is a European Community trademark created by Regulation (EEC) No. 2081/92, which indicates a level of quality that takes into account production methods related to the territorial limit. Anyone producing an Igp product must adhere to the strict production rules set out in the relevant production discipline, and compliance with these rules is ensured by a special inspection body.
